It’s easy to think sportsmen and women are so physically fit that having a defibrillator would be a waste of time. Unfortunately, this is not the case, sudden cardiac arrest is a leading cause of death in many young athletes. Having an emergency plan in place, with a club defib can and will save lives! Early access to an AED will increase survival rates exponentially. So, schools, sports clubs, teams and organisations MUST have a defibrillator on site as without one, the risk is too great. Having an AED at a sports venue is not just there for treating sports participants, it is also a safety device for all staff, visitors and spectators.
