Sterile & Highly Absorbent Medium HSE Dressing. A medium HSE dressing is indeed the first item needed for open cuts & wounds. The dressing is attached to the bandage, about a quarter of the way along. This is to make it easier to apply – Simply place the dressing on the wound, wrap the longer bandage strip around the limb & dressing and then use the smaller end to tie.
